Representatives of the Asian Association for Public Administration (AAPA; President, Pan Suk Kim) and the Myanmar Public Administration Network (MPAN; President, Saw Lu Lu Htaw) signed an MOU at the Gandamar Grand Ballroom in Yangon, Myanmar on August 20, 2016. During the MOU Signing Ceremony, a number of distinguished Myanmar public administrators participated in the meeting. AAPA President Pan Suk Kim delivered a keynote speech on “Appropriate Governance and Appropriate Technology,” followed by Dr. Aung Tun Thet's speech.
Dr. Than Nyun (Former Chairman of the Civil Service Board of Myanmar and Former Rector of the Yangon Institute of Economics), Dr. Kan Zaw (Former Union Minister of Planning and Former Rector of the Yangon Institute of Economics), Dr. Aung Tun Thet (Board Member of the Mahatma Gandhi Institute and Former Senior Advisor for the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Myanmar), Professor Tin Hla Kyi (Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Myanmar and Former Professor of the Yangon Institute of Economics), Professor Daw Than New (Commissioner of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission), Professor Htay Htay Lwin (Former Rector of the Cooperative University in Myanmar), Professor Khin Naing Oo (Rector of the Yangon University of Economics), Professor Daw Phyu Phyu Ei (Head of the Department of Applied Economics, Yangon University of Economics), and many others (professors, researchers, practitioners, civic leaders, and graduate students) participated in the meeting.
Especially, the Speaker of the Yangon Region Parliament, H.E. U Tin Maung Tun, and several members of the Yangon Region Parliament joined the meeting and the Speaker of the Yangon Region Parliament witnessed the MOU Signing Ceremony.
After the MOU Signing Ceremony, the MPAN had the annual gathering dinner at the Gandamar Grand Ballroom and approximately 700 persons participated in the annual gathering dinner meeting on August 20, 2016.
