  • Extending Call for Papers for the 2020 Annual Virtual Conference of the AAPA

    Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian Association for Public Administration has decided to hold the 2020 AAPA Annual Conference as avirtual conference on September 25, 2020.This decision was made after consultation with our co-hosts, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The most important thing for AAPA is the health and safety of our members and participants, and a large off-line gathering would have been logistically difficult to carry on without endangering the wellbeing of our participants.In addition, we extendedthe due date of abstracts and panel proposal submission to August 5, 2020.And also include anadditional theme titled, Governance and Public Administration Issues Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic.Finally, there will beno registration feesfor the 2020 AAPA Annual Virtual Conference.We thank you for your understanding.Best regards,AAPA secretariat

  • Postponement of the 2020 AAPA Annual Conference

    Dear AAPA Members and Friends,Due to the developing COVID-19 situation and in compliance with decisions taken by the authorities, AAPA has decided, with much regret, to postpone the 2020 AAPA Annual Conference that was to be held from May 28 to 29 in Shanghai, China, to theend of September, 2020.This was not an easy decision to make but public health is our primary concern and we rather take every precautionary measure to limit any risk to participants, staff and those with whom they come into contact.We recognize and are grateful for all the energy and time all of you invested in sending your abstracts and also that of our local organizing committee which worked hard.We will continue to monitor the evolution of COVID-19 and notify you with rescheduled datesdependingon the situation by early July.We apologize for any inconvenience this decision has caused and we thank you for your understanding.Best regards,AAPA Secretariat

  • Call for Papers for the 2020 Annual Conference of the Asian Association for Public Administration (AAPA)

    The Call for Papers for the 2020 Annual Conference oftheAsian Association for Public Administration (AAPA)Today, with an urbanization rate of 50% in Asia,more and more people will be living in urban areas. The rapid urbanization has led to many problems: poverty, income disparity, energy consumption, traffic congestion, and environmental pollution and so forth. The concept of sustainable development plays an essential role in addressing these challenges by offering a conceptual framework of promoting prosperity and justice to achieve a more sustainable future. Urban governance is critical for achieving sustainable development goals. It is of great theoretical and practical significance to explore how sustainable development can be promoted. This conference also focuses on the good and best practices of urban governance across cities as well as counties, which may be applicable to other regions. We need to learn from each other by exchanging ideas, sharing best practices, and exploring new theories around the world. Thethemeof this year’s conference is:“Towards Sustainable Urban Governance in Asia: New Theory and Innovative Practice”We are interested in soliciting proposals focusing on comparative studies to facilitate interdisciplinary and cross-country dialogue and enrich practice on urban governance in China and other Asian countries.
